If you're building an Islamic finance application, you need Shariah compliance data you can call from code. Three providers publish a developer API offer today: Halal Terminal, Zoya and Musaffa. This comparison sticks to what each provider states publicly. We publish Halal Terminal, so read our own column with that in mind and check the vendors' pages before you commit.

Facts on Zoya and Musaffa were checked on 2 October 2026 against zoya.finance/api, zoya.finance, Zoya's API announcement and musaffa.com/for-business. Pricing and coverage change; the vendor's page wins over this table.

Halal Terminal API

Best for: developers who need to show why a stock passes or fails, and how the standards disagree.

Limits to know. Halal Terminal is not a Shariah board: its results are automated screens, not a religious ruling. Business-activity screening relies on sector classifications, which can be too coarse for conglomerates. Coverage is narrower than Musaffa's.

Zoya API

Best for: products that want one AAOIFI-based verdict, overseen by Shariah advisors, with public self-serve pricing.

Zoya publishes its API prices: personal plans start at $39 a month and commercial plans at $399 a month. Basic plans cover US stocks; Advanced plans add 20+ global markets and the revenue and financial ratios. A free developer account gives access to a sandbox for testing.

Musaffa API

Best for: international coverage at scale, with screening supported by Shariah scholars.

Musaffa states the broadest coverage of the three (120,000+ stocks and ETFs across 70+ exchanges) and its AAOIFI-based screening is supported by qualified Shariah scholars and an in-house research team. Packages are sold by market access (Starter: one market, Pro: three, Premium: all) and go through a demo with their sales team rather than self-serve signup.

These tools combine well. A common setup is to take the verdict from a scholar-backed provider and use Halal Terminal to explain borderline cases, where the standards and the services disagree.
